Misty Creek is participating in the Responsible Dog Ownership Group Day!
We will be taking part in the first annual RDOG Day taking place on September 18th, 2010 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Bowness Park. This event is held in support of The Canadian Kennel Club’s initiative, RDOG Week, which begins on September 25th. Our goal is to create more public awareness about our organizations and the animals we help, and to build dog owner awareness and foster responsible pet ownership.
In partnership with The City of Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services, we invitine the public to come and see several demonstrations of sports and activities that you can do with your dog. This could include tracking, obedience, rally, Frisbee and agility. Dog owners are invited to participate with their own dogs. There will also be contests for dog owners and celebrity judges!
Animal & Bylaw Services staff, Director Bill Bruce and the Calgary Humane Society will be on site with educational materials, giveaways and information about their adoptable animals.
Keetah’s surgery was a success
Keetah had her surgery today and everything went off without a hitch. She needs to go back on Friday to have her leg checked and re-casted. The vet says we’ll be seeing a lot of each other over the next two months. We’ve got her set up in a big crate so she can maneuver around and get comfortable.

Garage Sale Fundraiser for Misty Creek Dog Rescue
We will be holding a fundraising Garage Sale to raise funds for our dogs needing medical care. We have been overwhelmed with vet bills, so our volunteers have rallied together to hold a garage sale and part with some awesome stuff!
Although we appreciate your support, we have already collected all of the items we have room for and are not accepting additional items.

Huge Cat & Dog Adopt-A-Thon
Join us this Sunday, August 29th from 11 AM – 3 PM for a huge cat and dog adopt-a-thon. Many of our dogs available for adoption will make an appearance, along with many precious animals from AARCS, Pound Rescue, Heaven Can Wait and Positive Match Rescues.
Vote for Misty Creek to be featured in the new movie “Smitty”
VOTE for Misty Creek Dog Rescue by October 1, 2010 for us to win a chance to be featured in the upcoming family movie, “SMITTY”. The organization with the most votes will be featured (as a poster placement) in “SMITTY”. This opportunity will help gain exposure for Misty Creek Dog Rescue and help spread the word about a movie that spreads the message ‘ADOPT, DON’T SHOP.’
The prize for SMITTY and shelter dogs like him, is for lots of people to see the movie and understand how beneficial it is for a family to adopt a pet!
Grand Prize: The organization with the most votes will be promoted by a poster placement in the upcoming family movie, “SMITTY”.
Eligibility for random prize drawing for pet supplies, once your organization accumulates 50 votes.
“SMITTY” movie poster for organizations that accumulate 25 votes or more.
Tickets to the “SMITTY” premiere will be awarded to organizations with the most votes.
Top 10 organizations will be highlighted in the DVD Special Features.

2011 Calendar Advertising On Sale
This year, Misty Creek Dog Rescue is launching their fourth annual calendar campaign aimed at raising money to support the shelter’s activities and raising awareness of the importance of spaying or neutering pets. Featuring beautiful professional photography of dogs rescued and placed into forever homes by Misty Creek, the calendars will sell for $10 starting mid-September. 2000 calendars will be available for purchase online and through various retail locations and veterinary clinics around Calgary. The role of Constable Dull is being played by Phebe, an eight-month-old collie cross. Phebe (a.k.a. Cheerio) was adopted by Iam Coulter and her husband Stuart James in January.
